How do you set the clock?
Check to see that the POWER button is in the OFF mode. Press and hold the "Set / Memory / Clock adjust" button until a blinking display that reads, "12 Hr," reveals itself. This is an option of whether or not you would like your clock to display the standard 12 hour clock or the 24 hour clock commonly used by the military. For example, 1:30 p.m. would read 13:30 and 8:45 p.m. would read 20:45. This is convenient because the designation "p.m." and "a.m." is unnecessary. Choose which mode you would prefer by pressing the "Skip/Tuning Dn" and "Skip / Tuning Up" buttons. Once you have selected your hour mode of choice press the "Set / Memory / Clock adjust" button to select this mode. You will then need to set the hours place. Scroll up or down using the "Skip/Tuning Dn" and "Skip / Tuning Up" buttons. Press the "Set / Memory / Clock adjust" to select the hours place. Then, repeat this step for the minutes place. Top

Why does my iPod shuffle not play when I plug it into the iPod shuffle port?
Check to see that your iPod shuffle is securely plugged into the port on the top of your iLive system. This port only provides a way to charge your iPod shuffle. Next, plug the Auxiliary Line-In Cord (the white cord that has a single input and a single output) connect the headphone jack of your iPod into the port marked "Line-in" on the front of your iLive player. Press the FUNCTION button until you're in the auxiliary mode. The display will read AUX above the clock on your iLive display. Note that you cannot use your remote to control your iPod shuffle. Top

Why is the track number on the display of my iLive player blinking two dashes instead of playing a CD?
Check to see if your CD is flipped upside down. The CD label side should be facing the clock of your iLive player. Also, the CD may be scratched or dirty. There's not much you can do about a scratched disk. They have CD repair kits available at your local electronics supplier. If the disc is dirty, use a soft linen or a store-purchased cloth meant for disc cleaning. Top

Why doesn't my iPod stop playing music after I've pressed the STOP button on my iLive player?
There is no STOP button on the iPod itself so there cannot be a way to communicate the command of STOP to your iPod. Instead, iPods have a choice between PLAY/PAUSE and a sleep or standby mode. The purpose of the STOP button is to control the CD player. Top

Why can I not control my mp3 player using my remote?
If the mp3 player you are using is not an iPod, your remote will not be able to control your mp3 player. The auxiliary port (Line-in) is only meant to distribute sound to two speakers as if it were transferring an audio signal to your headphones. If you are using an iPod shuffle, you will not be able to control the playback using your remote because the shuffle model does not have the same interface that other iPods have. You are able to charge your iPod shuffle by inserting it into its port on the top of your iLive system. However, you will need to insert the Auxiliary Line-In Cord into the headphone jack of your iPod shuffle and connect the other end to the "Line-in" port on the front of your iLive player. Top

How do I connect my iPod to my television?
Only on the iPod video model and the iPod photo model will you be able to use a composite video cable to connect your iPod to your television. On the Photo iPods, go to Photos. Then, go to the Slideshow Settings. From there, scroll down and set the TV Out option to ON. Make sure that the Output Signal is set to NTSC as well. Go into your Photo Library and select the photos you wish to see on your television screen. This option is right below the TV Out option. On the Video iPods, proceed the same way as the Photo iPods to view your photographs. To view videos, go to Videos. Scroll down to and select Video Settings. From there, scroll down and set the TV Out option to ON. Make sure that the Output Signal is set to NTSC as well. You may want to turn the Widescreen option to "Off" if you do not have a widescreen television. Top

What if I hooked up the composite cable (the red, white, and yellow cable) between my iLive system and my television, but I still can't receive audio and video?
Check to see if your television is set to the correct input channel. Some televisions may need to be turned to a specific, numbered channel, while others may require you to press an "INPUT SELECT" or a "TV/AV" or a "TV/VIDEO" button. If the problem persists, check to see if the cables are pressed firmly into their ports. Make sure the color and labeling of one output port matches the color and labeling of the corresponding input port. One side of the cable should be inserted into the output jack of the DVD player with the other side inserted into the input jack of the television. Top

    Why does my DVD skip?
Check to see that there are no scratches on your DVD that would cause lower performance. Also, over time any DVD player may need to be cleaned. Due to the sensitivity of such a project, consult your local electronics provider for an appropriate system to clean your DVD player. Top

Why can I not see the complete screen when I am watching a DVD?
Check to see that you have the correct aspect ratio setting. You can change this setting in the SETUP menu, which is located in the center of your remote above the SCROLL-UP button. In this menu, scroll over to the Display tab. Under the options for "Aspect Ratio," you have three choices of television shaping. One option is the 4:3 L-Box which stands for "Letter Box," and it is best for a standard square tube television. It allows you to see the complete frame of a widescreen movie on a non-widescreen television. The next option is the 4:3 PS, which stands for "Pan Scan." This will make the image fit a square tube television, but there may be portions of the picture on the left and right side not included in the image of this option. The last option is Wide. This option should only be used if you have a widescreen television to connect to your iLive player. Also, check to see if your ZOOM setting is set to OFF. This can be done by pressing ZOOM on your remote control until your picture returns to its normal operation. Top

Why are there subtitles displayed on my screen?
Check to see whether or not the SUBTITLE language in the LANGUAGE tab of the SETUP menu is switched to OFF. During playback, you can also press the SUBTITLE button until the subtitles are switched to the OFF setting. Top

Why is my DVD playing in another language?
Check to see whether or not the AUDIO language in the LANGUAGE tab of the SETUP menu is switched to OFF. During playback, you can also press the AUDIO button until you have reached the language or commentary track with which you would like to see the movie. Top

If I have burned a CD or DVD with various types of files (wma's, mp3's, JPEG's, etc.), how do I view these files?
When you enter in a data CD or DVD, a display on your television automatically provides a browser to look through which JPEG files you would like to view. Select a file from the disc and press the PLAY/PAUSE button. This will start a slide show of pictures in numerical/alphabetical order. You may use the NEXT and PREVIOUS track buttons to skip a photo or to go back to a photo. The ability to play files off of a recordable CD in .mp3 or .wma format is included as a feature in this product. Top

What should I do if my television does not have the inputs that my iLive player requires?
If you have an older television, it's possible the only input the television will receive is a coaxial input meant to be connected to either an antenna or a cable television provider. In this case, you will need to purchase an RF modulator from an electronics dealer. This will allow you to convert your coaxial input into a composite input (the red, white, and yellow cable), which will provide a connection between your television and your iLive system. Top

How do I create a CD or DVD that includes my music, picture, and data files?
You will need a computer with a CD or DVD burner to create a CD or DVD with your music, picture, and data files. Most photo labs have the option of getting your pictures on a CD. If you bought one of these picture CDs, you would be able to view them on your DVD player. Top

How do I receive better reception from my AM/FM tuner?
The white wire on the back of your system is your FM antenna. Make sure your FM antenna is firmly in place. While in the Tuner mode, adjust the position of your antenna to provide optimal reception. This may take some trial and error by moving it back and forth to see which position gives you a clearer sound to your radio. Top

I have one of the new iPods (Nano 4th gen. or iTouch 2nd gen.).  Are these compatible with this unit?

The new iPods are compatible and will play on this unit but it won’t charge the iPod.  This is due to recent changes by Apple on new iPods after our unit was released.  The battery life on the new iPods is greatly improved requiring less frequent charging.  With this older version iLive unit you will need to charge your iPod via the computer using the provided USB cord.  Alternatively, you can purchase an AC adaptor we offer at special savings that will charge your iPod.  Call us at 314-621-2881 and press option 2 for the Parts Dept to order the optional AC adaptor.

I have one of the new iPods (Nano 4th gen., iTouch 2nd gen., or the Classic 120GB).  What bracket do I use?

    Use the following brackets for your iPod:  Nano 4th gen – 4, iTouch 2nd gen. – #2, Classic 120GB – #2.
