Why does my iPod shuffle not play when I plug it into the iPod shuffle port?
Check to see that your iPod shuffle is securely plugged into the port
in the middle of your iLive system. This port only provides a way to
charge your iPod shuffle. Next, plug the Auxiliary Line-In Cord (the
white cord that has a single input and a single output) connect the headphone
jack of your iPod into the port marked "AUX IN" on the back of your iLive
player. Note that you cannot use your remote to control your iPod shuffle.

Why can I not hear any audio from my iLive docking system?
When the Auxiliary Line-In Cord is inserted into the AUX IN port you will not be able to hear your iPod. Make sure to detach this cable before using your iPod. Conversely, you will need this cable to be connected in order to use your iPod shuffle. Also, there is a Volume Limit option in the Settings menu of your iPod. Make sure that this maximum volume is set to a range that will be audible. Be careful when adjusting your volume level. Higher decibel levels at close range may put you at risk for hearing damage.

Why can I not control my mp3 player using my remote?
If the mp3 player you are using is not an iPod, your remote will not be able to control your mp3 player. The auxiliary port (AUX) is only meant to distribute sound to two speakers as if it were transferring an audio signal to your headphones. If you are using an iPod shuffle, you will not be able to control the playback using your remote because the shuffle model does not have the same interface that other iPods have. You are able to charge your iPod shuffle by inserting it into the USB port located in the center of your iLive docking system. However, you will need to insert the Auxiliary Line-In Cord into the headphone jack of your iPod shuffle and connect the other end to the AUX IN port in the back of your iLive player.

How do I connect my iLive player to my television?
There is a video output on the back of your iLive player. However, only on the iPod video model and the iPod photo model will you be able to use a composite video cable (yellow-tipped cable) to connect your iPod to your television. On the Photo iPods, go to Photos. Then, go to the Slideshow Settings. From there, scroll down and set the TV Out option to ON. Make sure that the Output Signal is set to NTSC as well. Go into your Photo Library and select the photos you wish to see on your television screen. This option is right below the TV Out option. On the Video iPods, proceed the same way as the Photo iPods to view your photographs. To view videos, go to Videos. Scroll down to and select Video Settings. From there, scroll down and set the TV Out option to ON. Make sure that the Output Signal is set to NTSC as well. You may want to turn the Widescreen option to Off if you do not have a widescreen television.

Why can I not connect my iPod to my iLive player?
Check to see that the iPod input dock is centered before you attempt to dock your iPod into your iLive player. This can be done by referencing a switch on the bottom of your docking system. This gives you a choice between connecting an iPod or an iPod nano. The nature of an iPod nano is that it has a 30-pin interface on its bottom which is off-center. The switch on the bottom of this iLive docking system merely adjusts the positioning of the input for this 30-pin interface. This provides a way to center both your iPod and your iPod nano. It is recommended that you insert the plastic backing behind your iPod in an appropriate slot so that you can make adjustments to your iPod's playback, while keeping the player secure. Make sure to slide the plastic backing into the correct slot. For example, if the left side is placed in the third slot from the front, then the right side should be placed in the third slot from the front. The choice of which slot you should insert your plastic backing into depends upon the type of iPod you have. The backing for an iPod nano should be in the slot that is located towards the front, while the backing for an iPod shuffle should be inserted into a slot towards the back of the device. Check to see that your iPod has its plastic backing in a slot situated in a way that is directly behind your iPod.
