Why is the track number on the display of my iLive player blinking two dashes ( --) instead of playing a CD?

    • Make sure the CD is flipped upside down. The CD label side should be facing the clock of your iLive player.
    • The CD may also be scratched or dirty. Use a CD repair kit available at your local electronics supplier or use a soft linen cloth or a store-purchased cloth meant for disc cleaning.
    • Another possibility for this error may be that your iLive player cannot recognize the type of files on your recordable CD. Make sure that the files on your CD-R are in the .wav (uncompressed) format rather than the .mp3 or .wma (compressed) format.
    • This iLive player will not recognize JPEG, mp3, or wma files unless they are played through your iPod or other mp3 player."

Why doesn't my iPod stop playing music after I've pressed the STOP button on my iLive player? "

    • There is no STOP button on the iPod itself so there cannot be a way to communicate the command of STOP to your iPod.
    • Instead, iPods have a choice between PLAY/PAUSE and a sleep or standby mode.
    • The purpose of the STOP button is to control the CD player.

Why can't I control my mp3 player using my remote?

    • If the mp3 player you are using is not an iPod, your remote will not be able to control your mp3 player.
    • The auxiliary port (AUX IN) is only meant to distribute sound to two speakers as if it were transferring an audio signal to your headphones.
    • If you are using an iPod shuffle you will not be able to control the playback using your remote because the shuffle model has a different interface than other iPods.
    • You will need to insert an Auxiliary Line-In Cord (3.5 mm to 3.5 mm stereo audio cable) into the headphone jack of your iPod shuffle and connect the other end to the AUX IN port in the back of your iLive player. " Q5. How do I use the TIMER function?
    • The TIMER function is used to set a time that you would like your iLive player to turn ON when the iLive system is in OFF. Conversely, it can also turn the system OFF if it was ON. To activate this function, press the TIMER button once.
    • To set the time that your TIMER will turn your system ON, press and hold the TIMER button and select the hour and press TIMER.
    • Follow the same step above to set the minute and and press TIMER. This sets the time for the TIMER ON function.
    • To set the TIMER OFF function, set the intended time you would like your system to shut down.
    • Do this immediately after setting the time within the TIMER ON function.
    • To deactivate this function, press the TIMER button until it disappears from your display.

My iPod stopped responding when I try to control it with my remote when its docked in my iLive product. What should I do?

This may happen when your iPod freezes. You will need to reset your iPod and your iLive unit.
    1. To reset iPod models such as Classic, Nano, or Video, press and hold the Menu and Center buttons until the Apple logo appears.
    2. To reset the iPod Touch press and hold the Home (□) and Sleep\Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
    3. To reset your ilive unit, unplug it for an hour.

I have one of the new iPods (Nano 4th gen., iTouch 2nd gen., or the Classic 120GB).  Are these compatible with this unit and what docking insert do I use?

This unit has a universal well and all these new iPods are compatible.  You should use the bracket that came with your new iPod.  Or, if you prefer, you can substitute the black brackets included with the unit as follows:  Nano 4th gen. - # 8 + Nano Rotary Setting, iTouch 2nd gen. – # 6 + iTouch Rotary Setting, and Classic 120GB – #9 + Classic Rotary Setting.
